wool·gath·er·ing

/ˈwo͝olˌɡaT͟H(ə)riNG/

noun

  1. indulgence in aimless thought or dreamy imagining; absentmindedness.

Woolgathering is an accountability project + creative outlet written by me, Andrea (hi!) Every month I write essays that explore themes related to being, nature and place, specifically the mountainous corner of the world where I live in wild, wonderful West Virginia. My fundamental impulse is to muse, daydream and well, wool-gather (coincidentally, I have also recently fallen in love with knitting.) That dreamy impulse infuses my work here and everywhere.

What you can expect: specificity of daily attention (usually in the “chat” format here on Substack); broad perspective of greater, seasonal movements & shifts via monthly essays; acknowledgement of shortcomings and follies with hearty forgiveness and humor; and that eternal dance of compassion for myself and others as we navigate this unreasonably beautiful and perplexing world.

I share free content because I believe access is important and money is dumb; I curate paid content in an effort to value my time and creative effort. The free version will always be available but should you choose to contribute monetarily, you will also gain my undying affection and admiration. Regardless, you should subscribe if you resonate with me and/or if you want to support my writing.
